MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT

It is my much delight to welcome you to the official website of the Sahana Pradhan Foundation (SPF) which has been established in 2014 AD with the motto of inspiring the future generations of the nation from the ideology, ideal, conviction and actions of Sahana Pradhan for the socio-political, economic and cultural development of Nepal. The sole purpose of the foundation is to promote and protect human rights, socio-cultural norms and values of Nepali society along with assisting in the developmental activities and process to build up prosperous Nepal by embracing the unshaking ideal, ideology, conviction and strong actions of Pradhan. 

Sahana Pradhan was an idealistic fighter against the undemocratic political and unjust social structures of the time. She struggled to minimize social evils and problems existed rampantly in the Nepali society. Her ideal and actions were always beyond the vested interest, favoritism and nepotism. The political thought and ideology of Pradhan were the guiding principles of the then Nepali society and it equally holds true at present as well. It is not an exaggeration to say that Pradhan was an institution during her active political life and she is the same even today. Talking about the socio-political struggle of Pradhan, she plunged into movement for democracy, civic rights and rights for women education in 2001 BS. 

Similarly, she organized women and students in the democratic movement in 2007 BS and fought for democracy in Nepal. She kept on fighting throughout her life against the suppression of single party system of Panchayat after 2017 BS. She kept on struggling incessantly against Panchayat system until 2046 BS. In the historical revolution of 2046 BS, Pradhan led in the capacity of the President of the Joint Leftist Forum (Samyukta Baammorcha). After 2046 BS, she played vital role in the decision making positions in the parties and the governments.  She actively worked in the capacities of the Secretary of the Communist Party Marxism, Central Committee Member, Pollitt Beuro Member and Standing Committee Member of the CPN, UML and the President of the CPN, ML. Similarly, Pradhan played her key role in the capacity of the Member of Parliament, the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Women and Children, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the governments of multi-party democracy of Nepal after 2046 BS at different times. She shouldered the responsibility of the President of the Women Protection Pressure Group along with the President of the Inter-party Women Network by playing leading role. Pradhan is considered as a legendary political figure with unflinching ideal and ideology for the socio-political transformation of the nation. 

Sahana Pradhan Foundation (SPF) has been established as a non-governmental organization dedicated to the ideology and actions of Pradhan in order to assist in the sectors of socio-political as well as cultural development and prosperity of Nepal.
